Terms of use
The deal in plain English: Free is free, Pro is a one-time license for 2 Macs, and Roomy only removes what you choose.
Effective ⚠ OWNER: effective date · Last updated October 2026
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and ⚠ OWNER: seller legal name, ⚠ OWNER: seller postal address (“we”, “us”). By downloading, installing or using Roomy, you agree to them. If you use Roomy for an organisation, you agree on its behalf.
Your license
- Roomy Free may be used by anyone, at no cost, on any number of Macs.
- Roomy Pro is a one-time purchase. It lets you use Pro on up to 2 Macs at a time that you own or control, for personal or commercial work.
- To move Pro to another Mac, deactivate it on one in Settings › License, then activate it on the new one.
- Pro includes all updates within version 1. A future version 2 may be offered as a discounted upgrade.
- The license is personal to you. It may not be sold, rented or shared, and it is not transferable without our written agreement.
We license Roomy to you; we don’t sell you the software itself.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- share, publish or resell license keys, or use one key on more Macs than allowed;
- get around license checks, beta expiry or any other technical limits;
- copy, modify or reverse engineer Roomy, except where the law allows it regardless of this term;
- use Roomy on computers or data you don’t have the right to change;
- overload, probe or attack our servers, or send automated requests to them outside the app;
- use Roomy for anything unlawful.
Your files and your choices
Roomy shows what it finds and only removes items you select and confirm. Items that rebuild themselves, such as caches, are deleted permanently right away. Everything else is moved to the Trash, where Roomy’s Undo can restore it for 7 days, or until the Trash is emptied. Emptying the Trash can’t be undone, and Roomy says so before it does it.
You are responsible for what you choose to remove. We strongly recommend keeping a backup, such as Time Machine.
Payment, taxes and refunds
Prices are shown in US dollars and may include or add sales tax or VAT depending on where you live. Payments are processed by Stripe. You can get a full refund within 30 days, no questions asked; see the refund policy. When a purchase is refunded or charged back, its license stops working.
Beta builds
Beta builds and beta keys are for testing. They stop working on a set date, may contain bugs, and may be switched off at any time.
Updates and the rules list
Roomy can check for updates and downloads a signed list of the things it recognises. We may change, add or remove features and rules over time, but we won’t remove features you paid for from the version you have.
Ownership
Roomy, its name, logo, design and code belong to us or our licensors. These terms don’t give you any rights to them beyond using the app as described here.
No warranty
Roomy is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Roomy will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that every item it labels is correct for your setup. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so some may not apply to you.
Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or business. Our total liability for any claim about Roomy is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for Roomy in the 12 months before the claim, or ⚠ OWNER: e.g. US$50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law where you live.
Ending the license
You can stop using Roomy at any time. If you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing keys, we may revoke your license after telling you why. Sections on your files, ownership, warranty, liability and governing law continue to apply after the license ends.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of ⚠ OWNER: governing law, e.g. a country or state. Disputes will be handled by the courts of ⚠ OWNER: venue, unless the consumer law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home.
Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one in force when you bought or last updated Roomy; we’ll note significant changes in the changelog. Questions: hello@roomy.app.
