Support
Roomy is made by one developer, who reads every email. Here’s how to get help quickly.
Contact
Email hello@roomy.app. You’ll hear back from the developer, usually within ⚠ OWNER: response time, e.g. 2 business days.
For refunds, see the refund policy. For what Roomy sends over the network, see the privacy policy.
Turn on Full Disk Access
macOS hides some folders from every app until you allow it, including Mail, Messages, app containers and Docker’s data. Roomy works without access, but it can only explain what it can see. Roomy reads sizes and names on your Mac; it never uploads your files or their names.
- In Roomy, click Open Full Disk Access… on the Overview card. Or open System Settings › Privacy & Security › Full Disk Access yourself.
- Turn on the switch next to Roomy. If Roomy isn’t listed, click +, choose Roomy in your Applications folder, and turn it on.
- Come back to Roomy. It notices the change and rescans by itself.
Changed your mind? Turn the switch off in the same place. Roomy keeps working with the folders it can still see.
Report a problem
The quickest way is from inside Roomy: click the speech-bubble Send Feedback button in the toolbar, or choose Send Feedback… in Settings. Describe what happened and press Send.
Along with your message, Roomy includes the app version, macOS version, your Mac model, your license status and the size of each category it found. It never includes file names or paths. If you’d rather, email hello@roomy.app with the same details.
Licenses and Macs
- One Pro license covers 2 Macs at a time.
- Moving to a new Mac: on the old one, open Settings › License and click Deactivate this Mac. Then enter your key on the new one.
- Lost your key? Email us from the address you bought with and we’ll resend it.
- Pro keeps working offline. Roomy checks the license about every 14 days and stays on Pro for up to 60 days without a connection.
Known limits
- Cleaning stays in your home folder. The Whole disk view (it needs Full Disk Access) shows everything, but it’s read-only outside your home folder.
- System folders, Keychains, Mail, Photos libraries and git repositories are always protected, whatever you select.
- Docker and OrbStack: Roomy shows how much space they use but doesn’t clean them. Open OrbStack or Docker to remove images and volumes there.
- Wallpaper videos in a system folder: on some macOS versions Aerials live in a folder only macOS can change. Roomy then shows them as Review, with how to remove them in System Settings › Wallpaper.
- Apps that need an administrator to remove show “macOS needs your permission”.
- Freed space can be smaller than expected. macOS may keep purgeable space or snapshots. Roomy measures the real result after cleaning and tells you plainly.
- APFS clones are counted at full size, so totals can be slightly higher than the space truly used.
- Leftover alerts can miss an app Finder renamed in the Trash, or apps inside vendor subfolders. When that happens, no alert is sent; the Leftovers tab still finds them on the next scan.
- An app copied with a command-line tool may look uninstalled until the next scan.
- English only for now.
Requirements
macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Roomy is not on the Mac App Store, because the sandbox there doesn’t allow the Full Disk Access and cleaning it needs.
